Enjoying Blanched Nuts and Their Benefits

Blanching is a method of locking flavor, color, and texture into nuts, vegetables, and fruit by stopping enzyme activity. It involves briefly immersing the food in boiling water or subjecting it to steam and then immediately submerging it in ice water to stop the cooking process.

Removing the skin on peanuts and tree nuts eliminates potential bitterness, resulting in a milder, more neutral flavor profile. This makes blanched nuts more adaptable in both sweet and savory recipes.

Blanched nuts are particularly well-suited for making nut flours, preparing peanut butter, creating smooth sauces or garnishing dishes. The skin-free surface of blanched nuts prevents flaking or crumbling during cooking, ensuring a more consistent texture and appearance in the final dish.

At C.J. Dannemiller, we offer over a dozen varieties of blanched nuts for baking, cooking, and snacking.

Sliced blanched almonds. Ready to use or serve, our sliced blanched almonds are ideal for baking cakes, muffins, cookies, and other treats or mixing into salads. The blanching process imparts a nutty flavor while stripping off the skin.

Peanuts. We offer blanched, raw, roasted, shelled, salted, or unsalted J Runner peanuts or extra-large Virginia peanuts that are shelled and raw. The former are known for their crunchiness and flavor. The light blanching process removes the skin while preserving the exceptional taste. We provide 35 types of peanuts – great for snacks, cooking, desserts, and making peanut butter.

Bulk almond flour. This blanched, extra-fine bulk almond flour is gluten-free and offers a low-carb substitute for wheat flour. It’s packed with protein and vitamins and great for making pastries or completing paleo and keto recipes.

Almonds. Our blanched almonds are available roasted, salted, raw, or slivered. We have a reputation for delivering the freshest raw almonds available. Our blanched almonds lock in flavor, nutrients, and vitamins for that just-harvested taste.

Filberts. Filberts, also known as hazelnuts, are available blanched, roasted, raw, salted, or unsalted. They add rich flavor to desserts, salads, candy, trail mixes, and other snacks. These distinctively flavored nuts retain that delicious taste, preserving it longer than unblanched products. Rich in unsaturated fats with high levels of vitamins E and B, they provide a healthy and tasty baking or snacking option.
